Become a Volunteer!
Become a CASA Volunteer and Stand Up for Abused and Neglected Children in Foster Care.
When you become a Court-Appointed Special Advocate, you’re changing the story of a child in an overburdened and complex child welfare system.

Five Steps to Becoming a CASA Volunteer
1. Complete a Volunteer Application
Click any button on our CASA website to fill out our Volunteer Application. A staff member will contact you to answer any questions you may have before scheduling an interview.
2. Interview
It’s our responsibility to ensure the volunteers who work with children in care are here for the right reasons, and we take that very seriously. At your interview, you will have the opportunity to tell us about yourself and why you’re interested in volunteering, and we will give you more details about our CASA program.
3. Train
Our volunteer training is designed to prepare you to be a successful advocate for a child. The training will help you understand the child welfare system, how trauma affects children, and how to write effective reports, among other things
4. Meet Your Supervisor
Before you begin working on a case, you will be matched with one of our Advocacy Coordinators who will work closely with you on the child’s case, offer resources, and provide support throughout your CASA journey.
5. Advocate
You’ve completed training and passed the required background checks. You’re now sworn in as a CASA volunteer with Coastal Plain CASA and ready to be matched with a child or sibling group and advocate on their behalf.
Speak Up For A Child Who Has Experienced Abuse And Neglect
Become A CASA Volunteer
Imagine the upheaval for a child who has been removed from their home, their family, their siblings, and everything they know and care about. Suddenly, they are thrust into a world filled with strangers. Foster parents, social workers, attorneys, and judges are now making life-altering decisions on the child’s behalf. Will you speak up for what is in the best interest of this child?
